“Fun” story: We stayed in a short term rental

“Fun” story: We stayed in a short term rental in Nashville a few years ago and upon checking out, I discovered vomit on the pillow I had been sleeping on for daysss! Someone had puked on said pillow then a cleaning crew came in and just put a pillowcase on it. I only discovered it when removing the pillowcase as part of the check out procedures.

I’m still not over it. So, did I recently climb around under this vanity and behind this toilet?!? SURE DID. Because we (and our amazing cleaning team) want those baseboards to be CLEAN.

Q: Why do we get up really early in the winter at the lake?

In all seriousness though, 10/10 recommend catching the sunrise in winter here. The mountains glow bright pink for a few minutes each morning. Due to the angle of the sun, this only happens in from late December to February. It’s truly a treat for early risers (or parents with a giant cup of ☕️)!

I could watch the clouds dance over the Blue Ridge mountains all day.

I looked forward to the cinnamon rolls from Medina

I looked forward to the cinnamon rolls from Medina’s bistro every trip to the lake. In fact, I still think about them (regularly). They might be the best thing I have ever eaten. 𝙀𝙑𝙀𝙍.

The thought of never having those cinnamon rolls again caused our family endless sadness, but thankfully, we don’t have to live that life! Congratulations to Chef Megan (formally of Medina’s bistro) on opening her new restaurant @appalachiarestaurant!

We were lucky enough to visit their soft opening late last summer. The hospitality, food, and views are fantastic. You can find the restaurant inside of @thelodgeonlakelure over your next visit to the area.

Last, but not least… there is cinnamon roll bread pudding with house made ice cream on the menu. Do yourself a favor and order it! 𝘾𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩 𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙖𝙠𝙚😉
